Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce Hosts Statewide Competition to Foster Civic Engagement |
Wisconsin middle school students are encouraged to participate in the 2026 National Civics BeeĀ® State Competition, hosted by the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce.
This initiative aims to enhance civic understanding and inspire community involvement among young learners.
The competition is scheduled for May 9, 2026, at South Middle School in Eau Claire.
Students in grades 6 through 8 are invited to submit essays on local issues they are passionate about by February 3, 2026.
From these submissions, twenty finalists will be selected to participate in a live quiz event, testing their civic knowledge and engagement.
The state champion will have the honor of representing Wisconsin at the National Civics BeeĀ® in Washington, D.C., in the fall of 2026.
Reflecting on her experience, last year's champion, Leila C., remarked, "Being in the National Civics Bee has opened me up to so many incredible experiences and possibilities that I could have never imagined."
Families, educators, and community organizations are encouraged to support students in exploring local issues and preparing for the competition.
Notably, Eau Claire has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic education, producing the last two state champions.
