Eau Claire and Altoona Offer Convenient Drop-Off Locations This Saturday |
Residents of Eau Claire and Altoona have an opportunity to safely dispose of unused or expired medications during the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 28, 2025.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., community members can drop off their medications at two convenient locations: the Altoona Police Department at 1904 Spooner Avenue and the Eau Claire County Government Center at 721 Oxford Avenue.
Accepted items include prescription and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, inhalers, creams, vials, and pet medications. Liquid medications, creams, and sprays must be in their original packaging. Please note that syringes, sharps, and illicit substances will not be accepted.
Proper disposal of unused medications is crucial in preventing misuse and accidental poisonings. By participating in this event, residents contribute to a safer community environment.
For those unable to attend on Saturday, Eau Claire County offers several permanent medication drop boxes available year-round. A new 24/7 drop box is located in the lobby of the Eau Claire County Jail at 710 2nd Avenue. To access the lobby after 4:30 p.m. or on weekends, press the button at the jail’s main entrance to be buzzed in by a dispatcher.
For more information on permanent drop box locations and safe medication disposal, visit the Eau Claire Health Alliance website.
Participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a simple yet impactful way to protect our community from the dangers of unused medications. |
