The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire marked a significant milestone on Saturday, October 4, 2025, celebrating its 100th Homecoming with a vibrant parade down Water Street. The highlight of the festivities was the performance by the renowned Blugold Marching Band, boasting over 400 members.

Jack Petrizzo, a dedicated member of the band, expressed his enthusiasm: "Being part of this centennial celebration is truly magical. Participating in such a large ensemble during this historic event is an unforgettable experience."

The parade's return to Water Street after several years added a nostalgic touch. Senior band member Phoebe Pilon shared her sentiments: "It's incredible to march down Water Street in my final year, especially during the 100th anniversary. This experience is truly special."

David Minor, President of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the university's profound impact on the community: "Reflecting on the university's 110-year history, its influence is unparalleled. Bringing the parade back to Water Street, the heart of the campus, resonates with many who cherish memories of this iconic location."

UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Mike Carney humorously noted the band's impressive size: "We often joke that we need nearly a mile of path to accommodate all the band members. Today is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talent."

Alumni also joined the celebrations. Jill, a member of the class of '75, remarked: "Homecoming is a cherished tradition for me. Celebrating this milestone with my closest college friends has been absolutely glorious."

The day's events continued with Blugold Fever Fest at Carson Park, featuring food trucks, pregame activities, and a spirited performance by the Blugold Marching Band. The football game against UW-Stout kicked off at 1 p.m., followed by the Fifth Quarter postgame party with live music from Uncommon Denominator. The festivities concluded with the 'I Love the 90s' concert at The Sonnentag Center, featuring performances by Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Rob Base, and Young MC.

This centennial Homecoming not only honored a century of Blugold spirit but also reinforced the enduring bond between UW-Eau Claire and the Eau Claire community.
